A Piece of History_

Recently, I remembered our old family computer from the Windows XP era. The thing had one of these massive CRT monitors (which later was replaced by a semi-modern flat screen). I wanted to see if my parents still had it in the attic or something, since it would be interesting to get my hands on it. Understandably, they did not have it around anymore.

From a practical standpoint, the computer has long become a useless piece of junk. But it is interesting how a few short years turned it into a piece of history. Especially since one of my earliest memories is sitting infront of the CRT screen! Imagine what a conversation starter it could be at this point, or how it would feel like an antique piece of furniture if put into the proper visual scene.

This picture is a rough approximation of what it used to look like:

However, there was something else that I DID get my hands on. Earlier this year, I found an IBM Model M keyboard from 1996 at work! I haven't checked if it works yet, since I did not bother buying a PS/2-to-USB adapter, which would be needed to plug it into a modern computer. There is no way I would put it to serious use though, since it does not even have the Windows Key, which I constantly use for keybinds on my system. I wonder when that key was invented.

It would be quite the experiment to connect that keyboard to some ancient PC and see if it would work. What else might turn into a piece of history within the next 15 years?
